Business Concept 30 Oct 2011

Venture Capitalist, " Do you think you're smart enough to think something else that other people don't see it?"
Therefore, it is totally not easy to get new idea now. Even if you get new idea, there will be competition because people think it is profitable.
Main point is:
- not to find business with no competition
- but to focus on how to create competitive advantages & value-added services

Successful companies have at least 1 of this 5 things in common:
- added intrinsic value through product differentiation
- added perceived value through branding
- low costs or prices
- locking in customers by making it impractical to switch
- locking out competitors by monopolizing the market

Communication Problem

Why is it so hard to talk to someone?

I want to discuss, and I really hope you can use better voice tone to talk to me. Respect me ok?
The thing belong to both of us, that's why i respect you and discuss with you. But you use 'sad/depress' tone to talk with me. I feel so not motivated after talking to you.

I really do a lot of thing, each time also got 'hit' down by you. Really feel sad. I do the hardwork to find people. Fine..

Today driving back for 2 hours, mind keep on thinking on how to talk better. Just now on the phone, feel like have to rethink my words before saying out.

I just back from 'kursus kepimpinan.. komunikasi berkesan'. Do you know why we have 2 eyes, 2 ears, and only one mouth? God want us to see and listen more, and talk less. I feel you don't listen attentively to my words. <- if i say out this to you, sure end up arguing with you, as you may say i blame on you again. I am person who talk very little and always look around. Really i feel the problem is not with me..

The speaker also share with us one good story, during his experience as a counseller:
Woman : Encik, saya rasa sedih.

This story makes me keep on thinking whether we can move on or not? Always got communication problem. Always I have to give in. I don't know how long i can stand this. I am sad.

No alcohol, no kaki to drink with..

Good night..

Frustration With MKK

6th September 2011 (Tuesday) 1049AM <- I am supposed to work

But what am I doing now?? Blogging.. haha

I am too frustrated and disappointed with MKK. I believe everyone and most of my friend also feel the same. Stupid MKK, stupid TNEMNREVOG.

Why am I so disappointed?
1. Their policy
2. Their working attitude, that will not allow the country to move forward
3. A check with the top ppl in KFPB are all *@#&@(*#@#
4. No simple manner when talking. Come on, you may have higher post than me, but after office hour, you're human, and i'm human too. We still have to eat, sleep.
5. Recently, the 1+1 policy.. What causes this? No money to pay salary? I would say they never plan long term. All their policy always short-lived. New people come, new policy..

Recently, this KFPB issue out one letter asking me to do stupid data collection. MW always mention in meeting, why do our KFPB keep on asking for data, and didnt analyze it. The always ask ridiculous and impossible data. Some data can be traced from AGAIANAMRAHP, but they still insist us to collect it. In the end? All rubbish data, and wasting time. And also, the person who called me was so rude on the phone. I believe you are in the HQ, create all the policy asking us to service with smile, but you yourself so rude!! Imagine I ask my staff not to come late to work, but I myself come late to work. (@*#(@#

I really 'beh tahan' all this TNEMNREVOG policy lar. How?

I really wish to put all my heart into work. But seeing all this happening really shit.

Let me share one experience. In private sector, your staff underperform, you can kick them out. But in TNEMNREVOG, you have to write letter to various boss. And after few months, the problematic staff is still there. In private sector, in order to get promotion, you must work hard and always have initiative to bring changes to the company. But in TNEMNREVOG, you work just to pass your time and try to push away responsibilities. 'saya nak balik menyusu anak' WTF!!

Another thing that I dislike is I am a problem-solver!! People will bring their list of problem and let me know, expect me to solve it. Why can't you solve it or try your best to solve it, before bringing it to me? Imagine I work in a company, and I cannot switch on my computer. I call my boss and let him know and wait for him to do thing. What if that company got 300 staff? That morning printer rosak, and all 300 staff call the boss!!

And I attended a meeting with all the top TSICAMARAHP. During the introduction session, they boast that they have various experience. As if they are so good, willing to sacrifice being posted to various places. I respect them for willing to sacrifice their whole life working far away in the jungle and away from family. Now is another era! Don't tell me you will not buy computer for your children, because you think you can survive without computer last time! @##*(@#*#@ Then there is junior TSICAMARAHP who keep on talking on phone and sleep in the meeting. What kind of working attitude is this?

I am so pissed off..

Inspiring words Oct 2009

Oct 2009 was a bad month for me. I was being sent to a rural place to work. I was glad that time I have a group of friend who cheer me up. They even bought me induction cooker for me to cook.

Below are some of the words that I would like to keep it in my blog, so that I can read it again in the future:

'HP, d journey of our life is full of many uncertainty n challenges. may b u think that something that happen to u is not good n uncontrollable but any changes in ur life may have their own meaning. u may not know wat will happen next. it may b a good n bright future waiting for u to explore them. so dun b sad n dun think too much. as long as u had try ur best to fight for urself, the result may not be important. most important is that u never ever give up n never regret in ur life. sleep earlier. tomorrow will b a whole new day' K.E.W

'sorry 4 being too quite all d while.. I just too get used 2 it already. I'll try 2 b more talkative next time.. Haha.. Bt i got listen 1 wo, although my face look like dreaming.. :P I know i may not b d right person 2 say anything.. Bt what is life? Is 2 explore n experience, for d best n d worst.. Oops.. Sorry talk too much d. Take care. If need anything, tell me la.. I will do whatever I can. See ya.' T.L.Y

'HP, this is W.T. Although I only know you for 2 days, i realize that you're a nice person. I can see there are many ppl care for you and treasure you as a good fren. I understand tat ur posting is not a good place. But HP, be tough. If you've been through this, then you'll be a tough guy, mentally charming. If you want someone to chat with, i'm willing to do this even though we're not so close. If you want some entertainment, i can be ur pirate dvd supplier of those hong kong tvb dramas. Dun envy others who get a good place, and dun fell bad oso even though u get this place. Remember, only unusual person can survive in extreme condition. You're different. You're unusual. Be tough, ok? Smile 1 :)' T.W.T

'Hi HP, Just texting in with a simple HI. Hope is well at your side. Never had doubt that you'll do just fine- you've always been one who turns each obstacle into an opportunity, so keep the fighting spirit up :) Take good care there! Good night.' N.P.L

Thanks a lot my friends who cheer me up when I am down :)

Inspiring moments

LIFE
We never get what we want,
We never want what we get,
We never have what we like,
We never like what we have.
And still we live & love.
That's life...

The best kind of friends,
Is the kind you can sit on a porch and swing with,
Never say a word,

And then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you've ever had.

It's true that we don't know
What we've got until it's gone,
But it's also true that we don't know
What we've been missing until it arrives..

Giving someone all your love is never an assurance that they'll love you back!
Don't expect love in return;
Just wait for it to grow in their heart,
But if it doesn't, be content it grew in yours.

It takes only a minute to get a crush on someone,
An hour to like someone,

And a day to love someone,
But it takes a lifetime to forget someone.

Don't go for looks; they can deceive.
Don't go for wealth; even that fades away.
Go for someone who makes you smile,
Because it takes only a smile to
Make a dark day seems bright.
Find the one that makes your heart smile!

May you have

Enough happiness to make you sweet,
Enough trials to make you strong,
Enough sorrow to keep you human,
And enough hope to make you happy.

Always put yourself in others' shoes.

If you feel that it hurts you,
It probably hurts the other person, too.

The happiest of people
Don't necessarily have the best of everything;
They just make the most of everything that comes along their way.
Happiness lies for
Those who cry,
Those who hurt,
Those who have searched,
And those who have tried,
For only they can appreciate the importance of people
Who have touched their lives.

When you were born, you were crying
And everyone around you was smiling.
Live your life so that when you die,
You're the one who is smiling
And everyone around you is crying.

Note : Thanks Auntie Tey for forwarding my such an inspiring words.. Must appreciate everything that we have..

Kantha Bopha Children Hospital

I have been to Siem Reap, Cambodia from 15-21 Jun 2011.

What can I say about this country? It is a very poor country, with lack of facilities. Daily household income is as low as US$0.50 (~RM1.50 per day). Imagine that!!

These places will come into tourist's list when visiting Siem Reap:
  1. Angkor Achaeological Park, which include the famous Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom, Ta Phrom (where Tomb Raider is being filmed)
  2. Tonle Sap Lake, perhaps the biggest Lake is South East Asia
  3. Floating villages, eg Kampung Phluk, Chong Kneas..
Well, there is a great place that I would like to share, that is the Kantha Bopha Children Hospital. I visited Jayavarmann VII together with my friends (4 pharmacists, 3 doctors, 1 dentist, 1 nutritionist). What is so special about this place?Dr. Beat "Beatocello" Richner performs free concerts at the Jayavarman VII hospital in Siem Reap on Friday and Saturday nights. The evenings include songs, played on his cello, and talks on the health crisis in Cambodia. The main objective is to create awareness of the current situation in Cambodia. All the children will get free treatment. They get their funding mainly from the individual from Switzerland, where even the president of Switzerland also make few trips to visit the Hospital. All this is done not for profitable reason.Problem that they face are:
  1. Poor families
  2. Lots of killer diseases (dengue fever, thyphoid, tuberculosis, malaria, etc..)
  3. Lack of funding
  4. Lack of blood
  5. Lots of poor quality drug (maybe they dont have bioequivalance to test)
I hope my blog reader can donate some money (even RM10 will help). Kindly visit this website
http://www.beat-richner.ch/Assets/richner_donation.html

I have donated certain amount of money and also blood during the trip. 350cc of blood is all they need to help a few kids there.

Below are pictures of 3 male donator from Malaysia.
After visiting that place, it reminds me of appreciating the things, the people, the life that we live currently. Stop complaining everyday. We are much much better than people there.

Mesyuarat Teknikal A&P Zon Timur 2011

Just came back from Mesyuarat Teknikal A&P Zon Timur 2011 from 24-26 Mei at Crown Garden Hotel, Kota Bahru.

This is a good opportunity for me to meet all the big boss in the pharmacy world. I'm the noobest junior pharmacist there. HaHa.. All are above U48, and I am the only U41 there.
They discuss lots of issues, which i do not wish to highlight here.

Just want to share my experience here, i mean the journey to Kota Bahru. It was a long 6 hour journey from Jerantut to Kota Bahru. Road condition is quite ok, just that 2 hours before reaching Kota Bahru, the traffic is quite bad. Slow driver, lots of traffic light, making us feel like it is almost impossible to reach Kota Bahru town.

All this while, I thought Kota Bahru is a conservative town. However, after going there, I shall comfirm that Kota Bahru is not that bad. Although Chinese population just 2% of the whole Kelantan population (told by KPF Hosp Kota Bahru), but there is one whole stretch of Chinese food along the street. And they can sell pork by road side!! And also the girls there can wear hot pants too.

After all this, I doubt the reliability of our press (newspaper, TV). Why? The like to EXAGGERATE small issue, and they like to HIDE serious issue. Previously before I went to Bangkok last year, they show it like the condition is very serious in Thailand (eg red army issue etc..). However, everything is fine only when I was there.

1000 Mothers Against Rare Earth Plant @ Teluk Cempedak Beach

1,000 ibu membantah Loji Rare Earth @ Pantai Teluk Cempedak!

One of the worst nightmares of having a Rare Earth Plant in your neighbourhood is that mothers may give birth to deformed babies.

Can you imagine the pain and ache if the new life a couple and the family look forward to will be mentally retarded or physically deformed? Can you imagine the agony if a mother has to decide whether or not to terminate pregnancy?
...
Let's show the resolve of Kuantan and Malaysian people to reject the Lynas Rare Earth Plant.

This coming Mother Day, come to Teluk Cempedak beach with your family.
Bring a Carnation.
Cherish the Sunset.
Defend our beach.
Protect our babies.

We post this event request from a concerned member. Looking back at our experience in previous events, we believe a long lead time is necessary. Hence, we hope you will send this event invite to all your friends. In three weeks, we hope to get 1000 mothers with their families to be there.

We welcome any suggestions from the Stop Lynas, Save Malaysia campaign or other concerned citizens. Please post here or email us at nomegatower.malaysia@gmail.com.

I quote the above long article from Facebook.

So, what is this LYNAS all about? LYNAS is an Australian-based company with this website -> http://www.lynascorp.com/.

A simple check on their website and you will know they are into this rare earth business. They claim that it is 'zero harm and sustainable development' in their process. What do you think?

I was told by a friend of mine who work at Gebeng, Kuantan, that this project has been started since 2 years ago. Till now only we bring this issue out loudly. But I dont see it on newspaper? Close case? Cover up?

Come on, learn from Japan's tsunami disaster ok? That tsunami cost them terrible damage in term of economy, life, and the future of their people is under danger. Danger of radiation from the nuclear plant. After tsunami, they share market plunge >5%. How many money lost in the economy? IF.. i mention IF Malaysia were to have any problem with the rare earth plant in the future, what will happen? Our KLSE plunge 5%? How much is 5%? As of today our KLCI stand at 1522.75, so a drop of 5% meaning drop till 1446. Those who invest in futures (FKLI) will lose at least 80 points x RM50 = RM4,000 per contract. How about those investing in equities?

Then, we talk about the impact of the rare earth, if leak into the sea, river.. Do we have the expertise to solve this? Then government need to hire brainpower from overseas to help to solve. How much does this brainpower cost? RM1million to solve? RM10million? Can they really solve it? Japan, a country that is much advanced than us also cannot solve. What about our country? 80% of our people cannot even handle simple mathematics and live in the poor.

Just my personal rant..

Just think about it ok?? And do something..

Choosing A Medical Plan

I summarized from an article by Tho Li Ming:

Medical card provide coverage for:
- room and board (usually range from RM100-RM500, but RM200 is most popular)
- hospitalization and surgical (H&S)
- intensive care unit (ICU)
- post-outpatient treatment (eg kidney or cancer treatment)

Seeking overseas treatment?
- Make sure got worldwide coverage
- Coverage will be based on local charges
- Condition: policyholder does not stay overseas >90days/trip
- Policyholder need to pay first, and will get money back later in Malaysia
- They suggest to purchase ‘travel insurance’ instead.. hmm..

Coverage for external devices?
- Eg wheelchairs, crutches, pacemakers, organs
- Tapi premium will be higher lar..
- Some Personal Accidents (PA) policy have it

Standalone Plan vs Rider?
- Coverage tends to be the same
- Some standalone plan offer guaranteed renewable plan
- The more it covers, the higher the premium..
- Standalone plan usually more expensive than riders (due to administrative costs)
- Rider plan are 20% cheaper
- Riders must be accompanied by a basic plan (may end up with higher premium)  take not

Rider link to conventional life policy or investment-linked policy?
- Rider link to conventional policy is cheaper (but its premium is higher)
- Meaning oni rider is cheap.. penipuan terbesar!!

Co-insurance vs Zero Deductible?
- Coinsurance -> Patient pay predetermined % of total bill (with maximum amount), insurer cover the rest
- Zero Deductible -> we don’t need to pay money at all!! (Tapi we need to pay higher premium lar)

Cashless vs Reimbursement Plan?
- Cashless -> Only pay charges that not covered by insurer (30-40% more expensive!)
- Reimbursement Plan -> We need to pay all the bill first, and claim back later

Choosing a Medical Card? Pening lar..
- Check its annual claim and lifetime limits (accident prone ppl, better take higher annual limit, rather than higher lifetime limit)
- Get those with protection for critical illness (min of RM100,00 coverage upon diagnosis in the future)
- Take note of medical inflation rate -> 17-20% per year
- Check whether got guaranteed renewal limit? (can renew till 70,80 or 100 years old?)
- Some plans have additional benefit (eg, emergency overseas medical assistance, no-claim bonus)
- All insurance companies offer 15-day free-look period (can get refund if tak suka!)
- If want to do comparison, compare the following:
- Premium that we need to pay
- Annual limit
- Lifetime limit
- Percentage and capping of co-insurance
- Tenure coverage for different benefit

Insurance indeed a jargon

Insurance - definition : act, system, or business of insuring property, life, one's etc., against loss or harm in as fire, accident, disablement, or the like, of a proportionate to the risk involved. (quote from http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/insurance).

I hate all the jargon. This is just the beginning of my frustation/headache towards all this insurance company and policy that they have. If you were to ask anyone down the street, do you know how your insurance work, they definitely cannot answer you.

I have done some studies in Low Yat Forum and my conclusion is I hate insurance. I hate insurance agent because they are not telling the truth (even if you know them closely). They just want to earn your money. Think! They tell you all their selling point, eg.
eg..
- you need protection if you fall sick
- do you want to get treatment in government hospital?
- what if you get disabled and cannot work?
- what if you die next day and your next-kin get nothing

Their selling point is right. It is good to have a plan for your loved ones, your closest kin if something bad happen to you.

But.
But..
But...

I hate insurance company for making their products so complicated!! Damn it.. the next time insurance agent come into my pharmacy, imagine I sell to you a medicine with all the pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamic, pharmacoeconomic data.. and the insurance agent will die first (insurance agent better buy policy to protect yourself first.. HaHa..) All we layman want is simple and affordable product. No point twisting here and there. And dont need to use 'jargon' in your policy, provide layman word.

I hate insurance company for their complicated statement!! Anyone seen their statement?? What do you do? I guess most of us just keep it in a file and never bother to analyse. Why? It is much much more complicated than analyzing a company financial report.

I hate insurance company for not acting professionally!! I have attended once a gathering of insurance agent. Well, they just keep brainwashing.. want to drive BMW, want to TRAVEL, etc.. If you want to earn our money, please tell us what we need to know. Don't twist around the facts. We dont mind to pay, if you tell us the truth. Do you know why I said they not telling the truth. It is all out there, read from forum and you'll know.

I hate them for not telling how to do claim!! Some agent takes long time to respond to you. What if they policy buyer is someone poor? They need the money badly u know!!

Do you know that insurance agent will earn money from your premium each month? So, they must have after-sales service. If you cannot contact them, just blacklist the person.

Few factors that I get from LYN forum:
1. Age -> Buy earlier is cheaper (next time there will be policy to buy when u anak belum lahir)
2. Sex -> women's premium is higher (wtf!!)
3. Young people should get policy that focus on disability, rather than medical (i partially agree lar)
4. Get protection for critical illness is better..
5. number of days a Medical Card can cap you at (or some companies, it's only 120 days per year. ICU = 50 times per year)
6. Make sure 'Out Patient Cancer Treatment' & 'Out Patient Kidney Dialysis' - As Charged. Some company put cap of RM50k. RM50k is nothing for cancer and kidney treatment.

Just my thought..

Hope insurance policy maker can make changes (keep it simple) for us layman ok.

Financial management

This post I will talk about financial management. I really happy with all the effort done by government including AKPK (Agensi Kaunseling Dan Pengurusan Kredit), which offer free counseling to people with debt problem or want to seek financial advise.

Talking about financial management, i was once a blind-man when comes into financial management. So, when did i start to realize the important of financial management. Thanks to my sifu Quek who leads me to a blog AhYap (who talk cocks all the time, haha, but provides very useful information). Then, he also introduce me to read book by Robert Kiyosaki's Rich Dad Poor Dad. That get me starting to plan.

Along the way, I have taught a few of my friends on terms like Power of Compounding, Rule of 72, share market investment term (Revenue, PBT, PATMI, EPS, PE, DY). When people mention about share market, they will likely think it is like gambling. Yes, it is indeed is like gambling if you dont do study before picking any stock. Listening to rumour blindly is worst than gambling.

Investing in any form of investment is all about calculated risk. There is nothing in this life without risk. Even investing in property also have its own risk. We must invest in something taking consideration of the risk. We want to invest in something that has more upside potential and less downside risk. This is what we call GEM. Spotting a GEM is not easy. However, same as life, opportunity does not always come into your life.

To all my friend out there who still hesitate to do investment (with various reason; no time, dunno how to invest, scared to lose). My words of advise is.. take action, or else you will be left out far behind financially. Is there any free money in this world? NO!! BIG NO!! To do investment, we also have to study. No commitment, no money. Me and my share trading partner discuss every night of the potential, after all 2 brain is better than 1 brain. (those who interested to join our discussion, can join us every night from 10Pm till finish discussion). We might study for few hours before deciding on a counter.

This is favourite Q ppl will ask. Do I earn this 2 years in investing? My answer is simple. Below are my trading performance (not something to boast about..)
2009: 21.49%
2010: 31.76%
2010: 5.84% (as of 19 Feb 2011)
This figure is much better than putting in unit trust or amanah saham. As my investment amount get bigger, achieving >20% is tougher, but I set that as my target.

I believe those whom I share my knowledge before (Suok Teng, Miss Wen, Su Keat) is doing well in their investment. Some are even better than me now.

If anyone is interested, do contact me, I am more than willing to share my knowledge and experience in trading.
